Mission

Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School in partnership with students, parents and the community, will attain educational excellence by providing a rigorous and quality education for middle and high school students with a special focus on science, math and technology.

This mission will be accomplished by incorporating technology into the curriculum, and promoting opportunities for students, teachers, administrators and parents to participate in an information society. CSP will convey the understanding that technology is a viable and increasingly essential educational tool. CSP graduates will have the training to successfully compete and advance to higher education.

Vision

The vision of CSP is to form a pact among students, parents, educators, and the community to provide an educational environment sustained by a nurturing, disciplined and dynamic learning culture. CSP will enhance the instruction of all students, enabling them to achieve their maximum potential, and preparing them to excel in an increasingly technological and global society.

Goals

The innovative educational approach of CSP will allow pursuing its vision of exceeding the district’s SAT averages, achieving high college acceptance rates and greatly surpassing Maryland School Assessment (MSA) and High School Assessment (HSA) proficiency scores. A committee consisting of board members, teachers, and parents shall guide and review the achievements of all goals listed in this proposal. CSP will:

• Treat all students as talented and work to create lessons that will allow them to continuously succeed at higher levels of learning.
• Provide intense, individualized instruction in science, math and technology
• Engage students through one-on-one tutoring and peer study groups
• Prepare all students for college admittance
• Provide after school programs and extracurricular activities
• Provide opportunities for internships, projects, and science fairs and competitions
• Collaborate with local universities, agencies and businesses to share resources and assets

It is our goal to improve the methods used with students in their efforts towards academic success and advanced education. So that students can have a broad spectrum of options for their future endeavors; are prepared to be responsible and productive citizens, and to make a contribution to the Maryland system of public education. We have designed an educational program that sees each student as an important person in the school; revolves around our commitment to the mission of establishing a partnership with parents and the community that believes all children have an inherent curiosity and love of learning and can reach their highest intellectual potential. This will be the goal communicated to the student-teacher-parent-community partnership.
