Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School students,
participated in a two day trip to Boston, Massachusetts on April 26-27, 2010. The trip was
designed to be part of CSP’s High School Orientation Program and was available
to only CSP 8th graders.
CSP students had the privilege to visit the labs, observe some
ongoing experiments and lectures, meet with the professors and students at MIT.
During the guided tour CSP students had the opportunity to see the entire campus
including the facilities where the Human Genome Project was conducted.
The second day CSP students were fortunate enough to attend the
Harvard University Open House Session for interested students. Admission
officers and current Harvard students answered questions from CSP students.
CSP was the only middle school group among the attendees which impressed the
Harvard Officials big time. Further information about CSP was shared;
contact information was exchanged for future references. CSP students were also
provided a very informative guided tour in the campus.
CSP students also joined the Freedom Trail Tour and were exposed
to some real milestones of American History. Guides have led the two hour
tour and provided a very interactive and informative presentation to our students
about the roots of our nation.
At the end CSP 8th graders enjoyed a trip during which they were able to connect the past with present and the future.
