Chesapeake Science Point Public
Charter School is announced to be the CHARTER SCHOOL of the YEAR by Maryland
Charter School Network (MCSN), during the 7th
Annual Maryland Charter School
Conference. The conference held on April 30, 2010, was highlighted by the
presence of the Assistant State Superintendent Ann Chafin, AA County Executive
Honorable John Leopold, State Director for the Office of School Innovations
Hilda Ortiz, along with hundreds of representatives from 42 charter schools in
Maryland.
After a thorough study, MCSN
decided to award CSP as the Charter School of the year among 42 charter schools
serving 11,500 students across the state. David Borinsky, the President of the
MCSN Board, has listed CSP’s significant accomplishments and mentioned how
impressed he was with CSP’s ongoing performance.
Spear Lancaster, the CSP
Governing Board Vice President is also awarded with the Charter School Extra
Mile Award for his tireless efforts on supporting CSP and the charter school
movement across the state.
The Honorable Carl Stokes,
Baltimore City Councilman presented the Charter School of the Year Certificate
to CSP Principal Mr. Kandil and congratulated him for this remarkable
accomplishment.
