Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School’s ongoing mathematics accomplishments attracted attention by the national MATHCOUNTS organization. MATHCOUNTS has announced CSP mathematics teacher Mr. Ferhat Avsar as the Coach of the Week for the week of February 15 on their web site.

After reviewing CSP’s accomplishments on local and statewide competitions, MATHCOUNTS interviewed Mr. Avsar and chose Mr. Avsar as the coach of the week among thousands of coaches across the nation. Mr. Avsar has been working at CSP for the last two years and working diligently with Team Infinity of CSP for the local, statewide and national competitions.

Mr. Avsar’s students recently participated in an interstate mathematics competition and received the second best school award along with a 2nd and a 3rd place awards on individual rounds. In addition to that Mr. Avsar’s team also received the BEST team award along with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, and 10th place awards at the MATHCOUNTS Annapolis Chapter competition.
