Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School Math team participated in another

prestigious interstate math competition. The competition took place on January 29,

2010 and was sponsored by National Defense Education Program, the MathCounts

and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division.

Only fifteen schools from Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. were invited to

participate which included the most successful middle schools in the greater D.C.

area. Longfellow Middle School- Gifted and Talented Program (feeder for Thomas

Jefferson High School), Takoma Park Magnet Middle School and Chesapeake

Science Point Public Charter School were some of the invitees for this invitation

CSP got the second best school award, after Longfellow Middle School, and

received the highest score among all the Maryland participants including Takoma

Park Magnet which has been receiving the highest scores in all MathCounts

competitions for the last 24 years in a row.

There were 30 teams from 15 schools with 109 students in total. Two CSP students

also made the top five on individual rounds. Ruslan Onyshkevych got the SECOND

place and Lukash Onyshkevych got the FOURTH place representing CSP, Anne

Arunel County and the State of Maryland. Our students were recognized by the

division commander Captain Chris D. Meyer, USN at Carderock.
